Year after year, The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise intertwines the enticing vastness and serenity of a luxurious mountain escape with progressive environmental stewardship and responsible tourism. Set along the shores of Alberta's premiere Rocky Mountain oasis, the 5-star resort invites guests to explore the stunning beauty of emerald-green waters, rich forests, and the Victoria glacier ascending above them.

Also unique to The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise is the grounds' inclusion in the Banff National Park, which has been bestowed the title of World Heritage Site by UNESCO. For resort visitors, this means all first-class amenities and pampering sit hand-in-hand with eco-friendly practices and a devotion to preserving the spectacular natural surroundings.

Lake Louise Activities

An icon of Canada's mountain scene, Lake Louise proffers sparkling alpine waters that entice year-round droves of outdoor enthusiasts. At 1-1/2 miles long and 295 feet deep, summer paddlers will enjoy ethereal experiences in kayaks and canoes, while cold-weather seekers of scenes from a postcard might lace up their ice skates and hit the frozen blanket of picturesque splendor.

Downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling are all available within a 40-minute drive of the Chateau Lake Louise at the Sunshine Village and Ski Area. Sunshine Village's 3,300 acres and 107 named runs boast Canada's longest ski season--from November to June--and promise patrons a massive bowl of deep snow, with an average of 30 feet of powder. The Chateau offers shuttle service to and from the slopes beginning in December.

Also nearby is Moraine Lake, another piece of aesthetic brilliance with indigo blue waters and a Valley of the Ten Peaks backdrop.

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Accommodations

The Chateau's well-appointed, contemporary rooms come sized for up to 6 people, with standout amenities including sweeping lake vistas and "world-renowned Fairmont beds" that encourage collapsing in a heap of fatigue and contentment after long days of quality time with Louise. Basic rooms overlooking the Chateau grounds and hillside are around 230 square feet, and include either a King, a Queen, or two Twin beds. Room sizes and inclusions head north from there--take a look at the resort's room comparison chart to determine which room best meets your needs.

Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise Environmental Commitments & Programs

For over a decade, the Chateau has incorporated “No Net Negative Environmental Impact” practices into all hotel operations to preserve the integrity of its surrounding lands. Minimal impact on the environment translates directly to minimal impact on threatened indigenous species, including the grizzly bear, wolverine, woodland caribou, and the westslop cutthroat trout. The Chateau has programs in place for direct wildlife monitoring, as well as flora, vegetation, and water quality studies that dictate the resort's responses to its effects on nature.

Also committed to the fight against climate change, the Chateau purchases 50% of its electricity from wind and run-of-the-river generated Green Power.
