Delta Air Lines is significantly enhancing its premium travel offerings, rolling out dedicated check-in areas for Delta One passengers to all its hubs by the end of 2025. This initiative, alongside an expansion of Comfort Plus seating and updated Sky Club access rules, aims to cater to its increasingly high-value customer base and streamline the airport experience.

Key Takeaways

  • Delta One dedicated check-in areas will be available at all hubs by the end of 2025.
  • Comfort Plus seating is being expanded through aircraft retrofits to accommodate more passengers.
  • New Sky Club access rules, including visit limits for certain credit card holders, took effect February 1st.

Upscale Check-In Expansion

Delta is extending its semi-private check-in areas for Delta One cabin passengers to all of its hub airports by the close of 2025. New dedicated areas are set to debut at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) by the end of this year. While these new zones may not match the ultra-luxury of some international hubs, they will offer a more refined experience than standard SkyPriority lanes, including complimentary snacks and beverages.

Comfort Plus Seating Enhancements

In response to the growing demand for premium seating, Delta is increasing the number of Comfort Plus seats across its fleet. This involves retrofitting existing narrowbody aircraft, including Boeing 737-900ERs, 757-200s, 717s, and Airbus A319s and A321neos, with more extra-legroom rows. Further retrofits are planned for A220-300, Boeing 737-800, and 757 "75G" aircraft by next year. This expansion aims to better accommodate Medallion elite members who have faced challenges securing these seats.

Refined Sky Club Access

Beginning February 1st, Delta implemented stricter access rules for its Sky Clubs to address overcrowding. Holders of the Delta SkyMiles Reserve American Express Card or Delta SkyMiles Reserve Business American Express Card are now limited to 15 annual visits, while The Platinum Card from American Express and The Business Platinum Card from American Express cardholders are limited to 10 annual visits. Members can earn unlimited visits by spending $75,000 annually on their card. These changes are part of a broader strategy to improve the lounge experience for top customers, alongside the expansion of larger lounges and exclusive Delta One Lounges.
