Delta Expands Boston’s European Reach with New Flights to Madrid and Nice

Delta

Delta Air Lines is significantly boosting its transatlantic offerings from Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) for the summer of 2026. The airline announced new nonstop routes to Madrid, Spain (MAD) and Nice, France (NCE), further solidifying its position as Boston’s leading carrier and expanding its European network.

Key Takeaways

  • Delta will launch new nonstop flights from Boston to Madrid and Nice in May 2026.
  • These additions bring Delta’s total summer transatlantic destinations from Boston to twelve.
  • The airline is also increasing frequency on existing routes to Barcelona and Milan.

New European Destinations

Starting May 16, 2026, Delta will operate daily flights from Boston to Madrid-Barajas Airport (MAD). This will be followed by a three-times-weekly service to Nice Côte d’Azur Airport (NCE) beginning May 17, 2026. These new routes will be operated using Delta’s Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.

With the addition of Madrid and Nice, Delta’s summer transatlantic network from Boston will now encompass twelve destinations. These include existing popular routes to Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Paris, Dublin, Edinburgh, Rome, London, Lisbon, and Milan.

Enhanced Existing Services

Beyond the new routes, Delta is also enhancing its service on existing European connections. The airline will increase its Boston to Barcelona (BCN) service to daily flights starting May 7, 2026, a significant increase from the current three times per week. Seasonal service to Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) will continue to operate four times per week, with flights commencing about a week earlier next year on May 16.

Delta’s Commitment to Boston

Paul Baldoni, Delta’s senior vice president of network planning, stated that these new routes underscore the airline’s commitment to Boston and its role in connecting the city globally. “By adding nonstop service to Madrid and Nice, we’re enhancing our European network and continuing our commitment to providing an exceptional travel experience from start to finish,” Baldoni said.

Delta has been strategically investing in its Boston hub, aiming to compete effectively in a market where it has a substantial presence compared to rivals American Airlines and United Airlines. While JetBlue remains a competitor, Delta has surpassed it in terms of total flights out of Boston since 2023. The airline indicated that these route expansions are driven by customer demand and the identification of underserved transatlantic markets, with plans to continue growing its Boston operations as gate capacity allows.
