JetBlue Says Goodbye to Its Smallest, Oldest Planes

JetBlue airplane on tarmac

JetBlue officially retires its smallest, most dated plane of its fleet of Embraer E190 aircraft, marking the end of an era for the 100-seat regional jets that have been a part of the airline’s operations for two decades. The final flight, aptly numbered B6190, traveled from New York to Boston, retracing the route of the E190’s inaugural flight.

A Fond Farewell to a Fleet Staple

  • JetBlue’s 20-year relationship with the Embraer E190 has concluded.
  • The E190 was JetBlue’s smallest and oldest aircraft type.
  • The airline is transitioning to an all-Airbus fleet.

The Embraer E190, which first entered service with JetBlue 20 years ago, was instrumental in the airline’s growth, particularly on its East Coast routes and as a key component of its Boston hub. The aircraft offered a comfortable 2-2 seating configuration, a hallmark of JetBlue’s early fleet.
