JFK’s New Terminal One to Feature Two Unique Plaza Premium Lounges

Modern airport lounge with comfortable seating and tarmac view.

New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) is undergoing a significant transformation, with its new Terminal One set to open next year. A major highlight of this redevelopment will be the addition of six new lounges for premium passengers. Among these, two common-use lounges operated by Plaza Premium Group have had their details unveiled, promising an enhanced travel experience.

Key Takeaways

  • Two new Plaza Premium lounges are coming to JFK’s upcoming Terminal One.
  • One lounge will be located airside (post-security), and the other landside (pre-security).
  • The airside lounge, Plaza Premium First, will be the first of its kind in the U.S.
  • The landside lounge will serve as an arrivals lounge, a rarity in the United States.

Plaza Premium First Lounge (Airside)

The airside lounge, named Plaza Premium First, will span an impressive 9,300 square feet and operate 24/7. This exclusive space will offer a la carte dining with locally inspired menus, a full-service bar, and Plaza Premium’s signature “Infinity Room.” While access policies are still being finalized, it is expected to be available to first-class passengers on select airlines, potentially through day passes, and possibly via Priority Pass membership, given the operator’s other lounge affiliations.

Plaza Premium Lounge (Landside/Arrivals)

The second lounge, located landside in the arrivals hall, will be known as the Plaza Premium Lounge. This 4,200-square-foot facility is designed for arriving travelers to relax and refresh. Crucially, it will feature shower suites, a welcome amenity for those disembarking from long-haul flights. This lounge is poised to be JFK’s only arrivals lounge and one of the few in the entire U.S., catering to business travelers looking to freshen up before heading into the city.

Terminal One’s Lounge Landscape

In addition to the two Plaza Premium lounges, the new Terminal One is slated to host several airline-specific lounges, including facilities for Korean Air, Qatar Airways, and Turkish Airlines. A sixth lounge operator is yet to be announced. The terminal will serve a variety of international carriers, including Air France, KLM, Etihad, EVA Air, and many others, as part of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s extensive $19 billion airport transformation project.
